The Alfresco sourcing team has the privilege of venturing all around the world to explore stunning places and sip on delicious coffees grown by expert growers and their communities. Through the procurement process we’re not only able to bring you exceptional coffee from around the world, we’re also able to support initiative projects, tied in with coffee growing communities! One project we’re proud to support is the Wildcat Conservation Alliance. Alfresco has proudly been supporting this great initiative conservation project since 2017 Since that time Alfresco has purchased over 5,000 kgs”.
One hundred years ago 100,000 wild tigers roamed throughout Asia, now there are less than 3,200. In the last 100 years, Asia’s wild tiger range has shrunk to only 7% of its indigenous range. Habitat loss and illegal wildlife trade are the major threats to tigers, as well as deforestation and population pressures have reduced the tigers' range to isolated protected areas with little safe connectivity between them.
Alfresco Coffee Roasters is a proud supporter of the Indian tiger conservation. From every bag of green Tiger Mountain purchased $1 USD is donated to the WildCats Conservation Alliance, a unique fundraising initiative between 21st Century Tiger and the Amur Leopard and Tiger Alliance (ALTA).
Since its inception, 21st Century Tiger (now the WildCats Conservation Alliance) has supported a range of projects in India, especially in the Western Ghats which holds one of the highest tiger and prey densities anywhere in the world and contains possibly 400 tigers. A variety of projects have focused on education, environmental impact, and protection around the Nagarahole National Park.
